Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course.

If there is one reason for the golfer to come to Northumberland, this James Braid classic is it! Nestling in the crook of silver sanded Embleton bay, with the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle as a constant spectator this course weaves its own magic. Rolling links, plateau greens and fair, but only just, fairways bring to the fore the reason golfers took up the game. The most welcoming clubhouse with its well-presented food plays host to an international membership, within the club.

A sensuous parkland course set on the town's outskirts which challenges but does not frustrate. Well guarded greens may test your sand wedge and provide entertainment for your playing partner. The 6200 yards make the par 71 seem a little fierce, so you must hold your nerve till the last put drops. An excellent pro shop and fine old club house add distinction to this splendid golfing test.

A 36 hole 'Golf Fest' awaits with two 18 hole courses to choose from in one location (or stay and play them both!). The 'Championship Course' has been sculptured around countless lakes and ponds so make sure the birdie you get is not a swan! The 'Leisure' course whilst not so demanding still requires concentration and nerve. Someone said playing here is like playing in Florida (if only florida had weather as good as ours.)
